Even with the best intentions, many guardians don’t realize how commercial pet food, monthly worm and flea treatments, medicated shampoos, and synthetic supplements can slowly compromise our animals’ wellbeing. I’ve lived this truth—and lost a beloved companion to it.

Why Pet Wellness Matters to Me

My name is Christina, and this is personal. My beloved dog Rondo passed away from liver and spleen cancer—diagnosed just one day before he died. He had hidden his pain so bravely, and I only noticed subtle changes: less appetite, less play. I thought he was just ageing.

Looking back, I know the truth. Rondo was on a semi-natural diet—I mixed fresh food with pellets, thinking I was giving him the best of both worlds. I trusted the pellets because that’s what we’re told pets are supposed to eat. I also used monthly flea and bi-annual deworming treatments and other commercial products that seemed “normal.” But they weren’t safe. They were part of the harm done to my beautiful boy.

And here’s the hardest part:

I eat only natural food and don’t use commercial products at all—not in my house, not on my body. I’m a formulator of natural products. I should have known better.

I spent a long time blaming myself—grieving not just Rondo’s loss, but the choices I made out of love and conditioning. That pain became my turning point. If you’ve ever felt unsure or overwhelmed by pet care choices, please know—you’re not alone. I’ve been there.

Rondo’s passing didn’t start CHBFresh—but it expanded it. His loss inspired me to learn deeply, to question everything, and to expand CHBFresh into something more than just natural skincare. Since then, I’ve completed 16 Holistic Wellness Certifications so I can support both people and animals with clarity, compassion, and care. Another chance

A year and a half after losing Rondo, I finally felt ready to welcome a new furry soul. Not to replace, but to have another chance and to give a loving home. Enter Sally… It was love at first sight! I went through the whole animal shelter to find her in the last dog pen.

Sally is thriving now and on a 100% natural diet. No commercial products have touched her since adoption. Plus, keeping her dewormed, clean, and flea- and tick-free is simple, safe, and completely natural.
